We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager role within the Engineering Leadership Team of the Novel Nuclear & Special Projects Delivery Business Unit. We are looking for a person to join the Engineering Leadership Team to lead Engineering Teams in developing the next generation of nuclear reactors to provide sustainable power to protect, explore & endure.
The Engineering Manager - Novel Nuclear will report to the Chief Engineer - Novel Nuclear and will be responsible for the technical and resource management of the following teams:
Analytical Engineering
Material & Manufacturing Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
EC&I
Safety & Security
Capability, Digital & IT
What you will be doing
Key accountabilities of the role include:
* Engineering delivery of Micro Reactor design programme
* Technical and people management of the engineering delivery team
* Application of appropriate technical governance processes
* Specification and oversight of external design and development work packages
* Capability management and planning to support the Micro Reactor programme & Technical support and leadership into Business Development and Customer Campaigns
Who we're looking for:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
* Degree level education in an Engineering or Scientific discipline
* Good knowledge of the product design lifecycle including design optioneering, problem solving, definition, verification and validation, justification and safety and final acceptance.
* Experience working within and leading multidisciplinary and agile teams to drive innovative design solutions
* Experience working across multiple teams and boundaries and delivering platform-wide solutions & managing senior internal and external stakeholders and customers
* Strategic mindset - the ability to see the bigger picture and consider the business case and market strategy when developing products and services
* Experience working on products within a highly regulated sector
