Salary: £33,500.00 - £55,000.00 per annum
Our client Our client is based within the Oil & Gas industry in Pembrokeshire. They are currently seeking a Data Analyst on a temporary basis to support the implementation of Power BI to the business.
Job Description/ The role: The Data Analyst is responsible by leveraging data to drive informed decision-making through the implementation of Power BI as a key business intelligence tool. This role involves designing, developing and optimizing insightful Power BI dashboards, ensuring accuracy whilst integrating multiple data sour ces. Collaborating with various Departments and Teams, the Data Analyst will be responsible for designing data driven solutions while optimising performance, security and governance to align with best practices and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the project Lead on the implementation of Power BI into the business.
Manage the SQL, databases and the Power BI connections to various data sources.
Design, develop and maintain dashboards and visualisations on Power BI for different Departments and Teams to monitor KPI and CPI performance.
Create clear and compelling data visualisations using Power BI to support decision-making processes.
Work closely with Departments and Teams to understand their data needs and provide solutions that enable efficient data analysis using Power BI.
Gather data from various electronic sources, including SAP S/4 HANA, Evotix, Predix, and RAP.
Automate data collection, processing, and reporting tasks to improve efficiency.
Develop scripts and tools to streamline data workflows.
Create and maintain data models that support analytics and reporting needs.
Adhere to data governance practices to ensure data security and integrity.
Support with the creation of data standards and documentation such as manuals, to ensure a uniform approach to data management.
Provide training sessions and support to staff on the use of Power BI.
Create user guides and training materials for data tools and dashboards.
What we need from you:
Proven experience in setting up, configuring and deploying Power BI solutions within an organisation.
Experience of gathering business requirements, translating them into technical solutions using PowerBI.
Experience of designing and developing interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
Proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI).
Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis.
Preferred knowledge in programming languages such as C, Python or R.
Experience in creating data models, relationships, and DAX calculations for efficient reporting.
Experience of using Power Query to transform raw data into usable formats.
Knowledge of Power BI security models, row-level security (RLS), and best practices for data governance. Understanding of Power Query preferable but not essential.
Ability to connect Power BI to various data sources (SQL databases, Excel, API’s, Sharepoint, etc).
Ability to manage and manipulate large data sets efficiently.
Data visualisation and storytelling.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
