About the School
About the school: Knowsley Central School is a special school in the Knowsley Local Authority that currently provides specialist education for 127 primary aged children aged 4 – 11 with severe and/ or profound learning difficulties. A large number of children that attend our school have additional needs such as complex autism, medical/ physical needs and communication needs that can often present as challenging behaviour. With effect from September 2025, our school pupil numbers will increase to support SEND in the borough. In school’s most recent Ofsted inspection in December 2019, school was judged as “outstanding” which is our 5th consecutive ‘outstanding’ judgement. The report includes statements such as:

About the Role
About the role: Knowsley Central School is seeking to appoint a classroom teacher for pupils who have a diagnosis of ASC, medical/ physical needs and communication needs that can often present as challenging behaviour. All successful candidates will benefit from:
• a comprehensive and enhanced CPD offer to support their new role in school.
• additional PAA allocation.
• a comprehensive well-being offer across school.
• opportunities to work alongside a range of specialist staff – our school SALT, OT and EP.
Personal Qualities
An ability to support challenging behaviour and provide personal care will be required. Experience of teaching children with severe learning difficulties and/ or the Early Years age range would be beneficial but not essential.
