Job Title: Front End Developer
Location: Middlesbrough, UK
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: £25,000 Starting, Negotiable DOE with additional commission based on department performance
As a Front End Developer, you will work closely with our senior developers, account managers, and occasionally the client directly to create WordPress and Shopify websites. This role will involve a mix of front-end and back-end development with some design responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain WordPress & Shopify websites and themes.
2. Implement and modify existing WordPress & Shopify themes and plugins according to project requirements.
3. Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve website and plugin issues.
5. Work with our SEO team to optimise websites for performance, accessibility, and SEO.
6. Support and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes/client management tools.
Requirements and Desirable Skills:
1. Ideally a degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field, OR equivalent work experience.
2. Knowledge of design tools such as Affinity / Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) or Figma & Canva.
3. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
4. Strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
5. Experience with page builders like Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg.
6. Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
7. Experience with version control systems such as Git.
8. Basic knowledge of SEO best practices.
9. Awareness of security best practices for WordPress.

1. Morning Check-In: Begin with a brief team meeting to align on daily priorities and update everyone on your projects.
2. Development Work: Most of your day will be focused on building and customising WordPress & Shopify sites, from coding and integrating designs to adjusting themes and plugins to meet project requirements.
3. Collaboration: You’ll work closely with the SEO and design teams to ensure the websites are optimised for performance and user experience.
4. Problem Solving: Address any development challenges as they arise, whether it’s fixing bugs or optimising site functionality.
5. Client Interaction: Occasionally, you might join calls with clients to discuss their needs and receive feedback on your work.
