An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Social Work Assistant in the Disabled Children’s Team South within the Strengthening Independence Service. Our team consists of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Social Work Assistants and Occupational Therapists.
You will be involved in assessing the needs of disabled children and young people aged between 0 and 17. You will support the role of the Social Workers within the team and also have an allocated caseload yourself. You will work closely with our colleagues in the Disabled Young People’s Social Work teams and other key agencies such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector.
As a relatively new service, there is an extensive training and development programme in place, and you will be provided with support and opportunities to further develop your own knowledge and skills with regular supervision.
You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deliver the highest quality service to young people with disabilities, their families and carers. Experience in Children’s Services is essential.
Kent County Council offers a hybrid working model with a combination of home and office working. The contractual bases are Rainbow Centre, Ashford, Thistley Hill, Dover and The Beacon School, Folkestone. The team covers a large geographical area, and there is an expectation that you can work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team.
This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence. The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments, so while this job requires the jobholder to drive, your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
