GSL Education’s South Yorkshire branch are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join our team in Sheffield. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in subjects such as History, Geography, or Religious Studies, and a passion for delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to develop their understanding of the world. This role is ideal for an experienced teacher or an ambitious professional looking to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic journeys.
Key Responsibilities for Humanities Teacher:
* Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Humanities subjects (History, Geography, Religious Studies), ensuring students are engaged and challenged in their learning.
* Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
* Develop engaging lesson plans and schemes of work that align with the national curriculum, incorporating a variety of teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles.
* Use a range of assessment tools to monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and set achievable goals for improvement.
* Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and curiosity about the world around them.
* Support students' personal development, fostering critical thinking and helping them connect classroom learning to real-world issues.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects and initiatives that enhance students' understanding of Humanities subjects.
* Participate in school-wide activities, such as parent evenings and extracurricular events, to support the holistic development of students.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and attendance, and report these to the relevant stakeholders as needed.
* Uphold the school’s policies on safeguarding, behavior management, and promoting the welfare of all students.
Requirements for Humanities Teacher:
* Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Having teaching experience in Humanities subjects (History, Geography, or Religious Studies) at Key Stages 3, 4, and/or 5.
* Strong knowledge of the UK national curriculum and the ability to deliver engaging thought-provoking lessons.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* A passion for the Humanities, with a commitment to helping students develop their academic potential and personal growth.
* Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
* Ability to differentiate lessons to accommodate students with diverse needs, including SEN students.
* A proactive and reflective approach to teaching, with a desire for continuous improvement and professional development.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
