IT Security Engineer
Hybrid working, with one day per week in office in East Sussex or Oxford areas.
Stratospherec is recruiting for a new IT Security Engineer role for a leading European retail company located in East Sussex and across the UK.
This role is hybrid working, mostly remote, but with occasional trips to one of the company's offices across the UK. ALso the occasional meeting in the Head office in East Sussex as required.
This role a starting salary up to £60,000 per annum plus 25 days paid holiday.
The IT Security engineer designs, implements, and monitors IT and network security systems running on Windows and Cloud servers. In this role you will be central to protect the network from vulnerabilities like malware, bugs, and hacking attempts.
This role is working in a small IT Security team working across complex networks and servers and applications with a user base across multiple sites across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Responsibilities:
* Design and implement: Create and configure network security systems, including firewalls, switches, and routers
* Test and configure hardware and software systems, and maintain the first line of defense against attacks
* Analyze and assess: Perform security analysis of systems and applications, and identify security vulnerabilities
* Respond to incidents: Respond to security incidents, and lead remediation projects
* Troubleshoot: Troubleshoot network issues, and assist with help desk tickets
* Explain network security threats and safety protocols to technical and non-technical staff
* Collaborate with other teams to create policies and procedures
* Provide security-related training to staff
Skills / Experience:
* 4 years plus experience in a Security Engineering role (ideally with longer general IT infrastructure and systems experience)
* Some understanding of a programming languages like C#, PowerShell, Python, or Perl.
* Knowledge of security tools like Tenable, Cloudstrike and ESET Network Protection
* Ability to adapt theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios
* Excellent communication skills
* Happy to work in office and remote as required.
* Ability to assess network security issues, threats and potential concerns and design solutions to fix these
* Ideally worked in a ISO27001 and/or ITIL environment
* Ability to work well under pressure
