Your role:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Public Health or Consultant in Public Health you will have responsibility for leading key public health programmes, providing public health expertise and leadership for improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities through delivery of action, influence and advice to the Council, NHS and other Wigan partners. Working flexibly on an ongoing basis, you will have responsibility across a broad portfolio, adapting to service and transformation needs as required. We currently have two posts available.

* 1 x Health Protection & Healthcare Public Health
About you:
You will have knowledge of specialist public health acquired through relevant degree plus additional training or experience to Masters level or equivalent and be registered, or working towards, UK Public Health Register (Practitioner Registration). The ideal candidate will have in depth knowledge and understanding of evidence based public health practice, relevant statutory requirements and proven commitment to addressing health inequalities along with an understanding of current health policy and systems. The ability to lead teams, instil a culture of achievement, quality, and high performance, demonstrate effective management skills and inspire, engage and motivate colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for residents using asset-based solutions will be fundamental.
