Description
CAMS Solar Services, LLC is seeking to hire a Solar O&M Service Technician with knowledge in electrical systems within the Commercial and Industrial solar space. Our C&I Solar Service Technician II will be responsible for completing service calls, troubleshooting solar installations and electrical preventative maintenance among other things. The candidate must have a strong safety mindset, an excellent work ethic, good communication and documenting skills. This job opportunity will work on multiple sites in the Northern California region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of Photovoltaic (PV) inverters, combiner boxes, solar panels, and other components.
2. Responsible for the preventative maintenance of Battery Storage (BESS) units and MV interconnections.
3. Able to replace/install hardware, PV modules, inverters, monitoring equipment and any other component within the solar site.
4. Perform commissioning of equipment depending on degree on maintenance needed.
5. Perform electrical testing using appropriate PPE and procedures.
6. Understand the requirements for LOTO and to wear appropriate arc flash PPE required for the system being worked on.
7. Prepare reports to comply with deliverables in O&M contracts.
8. Help in all areas of preventative and corrective maintenance as directed by manager with minimal supervision.
9. In the performance of your duties, use equipment and resources in accordance with instructions provided by the company.
10. Maintains adherence to Company policies, quality, environmental health and safety policies and good housekeeping practices.
11. Carry out any other tasks delegated by the company.
12. Must have flexibility to work during weekends and always be available on call. Occasion night shift work required.
13. Attending training sessions on equipment as provided by the manufacturer and approved by the manager.
14. Work alone outdoors, potentially in extreme weather conditions.
15. Conduct routine site inspections for security, cleanliness, and note deficiencies.
16. Substation and Medium Voltage Equipment Inspections.
17. Work at heights, in confined spaces, and possibly in awkward positions for extended periods.
Requirements
1. High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
2. 2 years' experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PV systems required.
3. Must be able to become a qualified person per NESC, NEC, NFPA 70E to work up to Medium Voltage (MV).
4. Must have good organization, communication, analytical, planning and customer service skills.
5. Must be flexible, be able to adapt to new situations, have self-control and have high integrity.
6. Must have flexibility to work during weekends and always available on call.
7. Competent skills using Microsoft office software like Outlook, Excel, and Word. Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Company vehicles provided and will require daily travel to locations throughout California.
8. Lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
9. Climb and descend stairs and ladders.
10. Stoop when servicing equipment.
11. Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
12. Clean driving record to operate company vehicles. Must be able to commute to the project site in the Central CA area daily.
Other Desirable Skills
1. CA electrical license is desired but not required.
2. OSHA 10 or 30 Hour.
