Job Description:
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to work in Southwark’s Older People and Physical Disabilities Service, based at our modern offices on Queens Road in lively Peckham. Covering the whole of Southwark, this role offers the opportunity to play an integral part in enabling our residents to maximise their independence and empower them to achieve their goals.
The Assessment and Intake team consists of Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Assistant Practitioners, focusing on strengths-based interventions that maximize residents’ independence. Southwark is proud of its training offer for Occupational Therapists, including sessions on OT and the Law, Mental Capacity Act for OTs, and adaptations training from a specialist provider.
You will work autonomously and hold a varied caseload. Experience in risk assessment and recommending minor and major adaptations, such as level access showers and stairlifts, is beneficial. Familiarity with the provision of simple and complex equipment, including moving and handling equipment like hoists, slings, and standing aids, is expected.
Applicants should have up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, challenges, and developments within OT and social care, along with high-quality written and verbal skills. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and with multiple agencies to facilitate holistic assessments is ideal, enabling collaboration to support people in achieving their goals and maximizing independence.

Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly in one-on-one situations, including the identification of needs and planning and implementing treatment. Knowledge and Qualifications:
To hold a recognized diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy and be state registered with the Health Care Professionals Council. Knowledge of literacy and numeracy skills to write reports for other agencies/departments or court reports, maintain appropriate records, including financial assessments, and assist people with their finances. Ability to produce high-quality assessments and use information technology systems for data input and access, as well as word processing and email, or willingness to learn.
