An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Product Definition Engineer to join the Digital Design and Industrialisation (DD&I) Team within the ET&S capability in Bristol. As a Product Definition Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in enabling the delivery of our Group Engineering, Technology & Safety (ET&S) Strategy. The Digital Design and Industrialisation (DD&I) Team, are responsible for the following: Leading the Product Definition specialism Delivering automation work that benefits component designers Delivery of High Value Digital Design (HVDD) elements Delivery of rules, tools and methods for both Additive and Composite Design strategic capability. Supporting the global Divisions (Defence, civil and Power Systems) to deliver for our customers. This role will support Defence Future Programs in delivery of the Defence combat strategy. As a Product Definition Engineer, you will be supporting Defence Future Programs in delivery of the Defence combat strategy. You will produce and check Model Based Definitions (MBDs) in line with company practices to meet design intent, satisfying fit, form and function of the component whilst optimising manufacture. This role also includes supporting delivery of the automation workstreams (such as MBD) and High Value Digital Design Strategy, enabling future efficiencies within Engineering You will influence all stages of the design cycle, manufacture of the part and support parts in-service. What you will be doing: Work as part of a multi-discipline team to prepare, develop and maintain the 3D master CAD model, definition (MBD/technical drawing) and relevant documentation in accordance with company procedures, engineering drawing standards, design intent (fit, form, function), manufacturing & build capability, project costs, timescales, enable downstream automation and quality requirements. Produce tolerance stack-ups to aid new product creation & validation and to support in-service investigation work. Create specialised bespoke CAD models for analysis purposes and the management, update and incorporation of Alteration Requests. Actively promote, encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement (of tools, processes, methods and guidance material). Such as support the delivery of DD&I Automation Strategy (including Model Based Definition and High Value Digital Design). Degree level qualified in a STEM subject and experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, Controls, Digital Automation). Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered. Highly numerate with good technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking. Excellent communication; written, interpersonal and presentation skills, and will need to be able to contribute effectively in a team environment. Experienced in using Siemens NX and Teamcenter is essential. Experienced in using ISO/British Standard and/or ASME Y14.5M drawing standards is essential.
