Job summary The BHFT CYPIT service is an integrated Childrens Therapy service, shaped around the needs of the child and family. They are structured within integrated teams, based around a locality area of Berkshire, and work closely together where appropriate, to ensure we have the greatest therapeutic impact, working either directly or through other people. Working across our early years and school aged phases of life provision you will be responsible for the planning and management of your own caseload and interventions working within our impact-based model of support. As part of this you will be supported to develop and enhance your specialist skills working with children and young people (CYP) with occupational therapy needs. Main duties of the job Undertake specialist clinical assessment and treatment of children and young people (CYPF) within the speciality who may have complex presentations and/or support other clinicians to do this both within a defined area of specialist provision and OT generally for less experienced staff. Contribute to the development of service provision within an agreed area of specialism alongside the CYPF operational team leads and professional leads. This includes ensuring best practice across the area of speciality and the service within CYPF. Have highly developed specialist knowledge, experience and expertise in paediatric occupational therapy which will include either developing and/or holding highly specialist knowledge in a specific area of clinical specialism. Be a source of expertise for a defined area of specialism and be able to support and develop colleagues working in the field and be a point of reference for colleagues and managers where advice may be requested/needed. Lead the development of other therapists within the defined specialist area offering support, mentoring, training and specialist advice, as well as defining core competencies for staff to work towards. Undertake clinical audits and research within specialist area as required.
