ESS Recruit's client is based in Livingston and is a well-established high-end scientific equipment manufacturer, supplying into a range of sectors, including medical devices, electronics, and oil and gas. They provide their customers at leading-edge research institutes, academic and industrial facilities with superior fluorescence spectroscopy products. Currently enjoying a period of high growth, they need to make the key hire of an Electronics Design Engineer.
The Electronics Design Engineer supports the Senior Electronics Design Engineer / Program Manager and conducts electronic engineering tasks for new product development, bespoke customer developments, and sustainability and product improvement developments. Responsibilities include designing and developing electronic products and systems, ensuring the performance and safety of products meet the specified requirements and standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Undertake the design and development of specified projects/products or sub-systems.
2. Produce, maintain, record and ensure safe keeping of computerized design documentation.
3. Ensure that projects/developments undertaken comply with international standards, undertake tests as required and complete the necessary records to meet European requirements for self-certification of Company products (CE mark).
4. Provide technical support to other divisions, production or sales teams as required.
5. Advise in the specification of electronic aspects of custom designed systems.
6. Remain abreast of state-of-the-art electronics technology and products.
7. Provide technical support to Production when required (Test/Inspection).
8. Undertake off-site visits for design, consultancy, installation, warranty or maintenance of electronic products, as required.
9. Undertake any other duties as required.
Skills and Experience
1. Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree with experience in a design and manufacturing environment.
2. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, with design for manufacture, and design for assembly skills.
3. Experience of designing component parts and assemblies.
4. Engineering configuration management.
5. Good team player.
6. Written and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with experience in a design and manufacturing environment. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, with design for manufacture, and design for assembly skills, experience of designing component parts and assemblies along with Engineering configuration management.
