The Role:
As a Costing and Innovation Engineer, youll play a pivotal role in our product development and cost optimisation efforts. Youll collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyse data, and propose innovative solutions to enhance our processes and products. Your expertise will directly impact our bottom line and drive our competitive edge.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Organisational Duties:
* Proactively monitor and audit all aspects of commercial, sales and quality processes to identify and implement improvements to processes, procedures and policies.
* Manage own workload and prioritise between tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
* Ensure all high value projects/enquiries are logged on the system and provide timely updates to ensure awareness of business opportunities.
* Lead and support the management of commercial projects and undertake tasks to develop news business in line with company growth strategies.
* Analyse blue bags (new items), report any inconsistencies to the relevant employees and communicate improvement recommendations to maintain data accuracy and customer experience.
* Gross margin and material variance reviews.
* Help to maintain the costing system by creating manufacture cost sheets to promote accuracy in price lists and provide support to users of the system as required.
* Audit the enquiry data base for accuracy.
Functional Duties:
* Ensure the continuous improvement of the companys systems through liaison with system providers to implement value adding and cost reducing solutions.
* Aid the implementation of new procedures and system updates and ensure new functionalities are understood and communicated to the users.
* Undertake training essential to the role and adhere to all relevant Health and Safety, litigation, company policies and legal aspects regarding the companys systems.
* Check new items creation to check accuracy to the standards and capability manual.
* When required produce CAD drawings for tooling and quotations purposes, review standards and capabilities, and upload the subsequent data onto the costing system.
* Review of material returns and reports.
What are we looking for?
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* A Mathematical and analytical mindset with strong spreadsheet skills
* Experience with costings and maintaining costing systems
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work methodically under pressure individually and as part of a team
* Ability to problem-solve, visualise solutions and make value added decisions.
* Previous manufacturing background preferably in a similar role
* A willingness to learn and grow within the business
