Teams: Business Support Service, Unit C, Finance Team 2, Accounts Receivable.
At Bristol City Council, we rely on having a strong network of business support staff who help our services run seamlessly and efficiently. We’re incredibly proud of these employees who work behind the scenes, making sure we provide an efficient service to our local residents. Our 15 teams support important local services. These range from revenue and benefits, parks and open spaces to public health, social services, and our highways, and so many others. As a service and as a council, we strive to treat one another fairly and with dignity, valuing difference.
The Business Support Service is delighted to recruit a Business Support Officer who can join us to reach shared goals and have a positive can-do attitude and is not afraid of trying new things. In our varied roles, you will be working collaboratively as part of a centralised service that provides support to a wide range of different departments across the council.
Accounts Receivable supports a variety of departments across Bristol City Council, which include Adult Community Care, Debt Management & Property Services. The extensive variety of tasks carried out by the team range from submitting direct debit files to forwarding cases for debt collection.
This role will mainly support the collection of sundry debt and will involve contact with a range of stakeholders to aid collection rates.
As a Business Support Officer, you may be allocated several tasks from different areas of work and will be managing your own varied workload, working autonomously on tasks when required, taking ownership and responsibility in those areas. You will enjoy working creatively to design the most efficient ways of working on each task and also together as a team, which will require good communication skills with your colleagues and other stakeholders. You will have a high-level working knowledge of using Microsoft tools, including shared calendar, and be willing to learn quickly.
In particular, the Administration and Business Support Service offers roles that are:
* Centrally based within Bristol
* Within a supportive work environment
* Has a Talent Management Scheme to enhance colleagues’ skills and opportunities
* Part of a flexible and committed team that makes connections with opportunities across the organisation.
