This Alternative Provision School in Liverpool is a nurturing and supportive setting for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who have struggled in mainstream education. The school offers a tailored curriculum and prioritises emotional wellbeing, helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
The Role
They’re looking for a confident, compassionate Science teacher to deliver engaging, accessible lessons to Key Stage 3 students. Many pupils present with additional learning needs and may display challenging behaviours, so you'll need to bring patience, empathy, and strong classroom management skills. Most importantly, you'll be a steady, encouraging presence—someone students can trust and rely on.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Deliver high-quality Science lessons adapted to meet a range of learning needs
* Create a calm, inclusive classroom where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
* Build strong, positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal growth
* Manage behaviour with consistency, understanding, and care
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to support the holistic development of every child
* Contribute to the wider life and progress of the school community
What They’re Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Experience teaching Science, ideally at KS3 level
* Background working with students with EHCPs or in alternative provision/SEN settings is highly desirable
* Excellent behaviour management skills
* A nurturing, proactive approach with a genuine desire to help young people succeed
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
