Summary
Raytheon UK is looking for an experienced and high performing RF Engineer to join a successful Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area, creating RF GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market. The role will be based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility and the successful candidate will report directly to the APNT RF Hardware Engineering Section Lead.
This is a creative and stimulating role offering development opportunities and the chance to work alongside our highly skilled technical team.
The RF Hardware Engineer will be able to make their mark on a broad and varied range of product designs and will be expected to assist in the integration of these designs into product being the focal point for the complete solution. They will have the opportunity to support engineering solutions, overseeing the integration of contributions from all other engineering disciplines – including systems, hardware, mechanical, software, safety and reliability.
Above all, this is the ideal opportunity for a self-starting RF Hardware Engineer who wants to work on exciting technology and product development projects in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated competence in RF product design for challenging environments and design for high volume techniques. The home office location will be based at Harlow with attendance on site expected in line with Raytheon’s hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
1. Developing requirements for new products
2. RF hardware design and development with technical leadership – From the initial concept stage, developing these concepts through to final production and certification.
3. Design and implement RF test solutions.
4. Working within the product hardware team and collaborating with all other engineering disciplines throughout the design cycle.
5. Producing design documentation and reports for project artefacts and deliverables.
6. Working with Customers and the Product Design Authority to develop and shape the technical requirements design and manage these requirements through the product development process.
7. Interface with suppliers and industry experts.
8. Solving complex technical problems on new and existing GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Products.
9. Support and mentor junior engineers through their activities.
Essential Skills
* In-depth experience in design and layout of RF and analogue micro circuitry for harsh environments.
* Design experience in Receiver technologies in the 1-2 GHz band with an emphasis on GPS/GNSS signal.
* Design experience of down conversion and up conversion techniques.
* Good knowledge of product design and problem-solving within a design for manufacture environment.
* Familiarity with Microwave simulators (Cadence preferred), PCB layout and Mechanical modelling tools.
* Experience in full system design lifecycle.
* Good team player who takes ownership of problems and engages in group activities.
* Fully understand circuit operation, debug, diagnose and implement fixes.
* Demonstrable problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Able to prioritise and manage tasks to ensure timely completion.
* Develop hardware concepts efficiently from limited customer requirements.
* Good communication skills tailored to level and audience.
* Excellent stakeholder management and customer interfacing skills.
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK, Europe and the US.
* Understands the principles of 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
* Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance.
Desired Skills
* Experience in design for manufacture for high volume product.
* Analytical engineer who can process data efficiently.
* Experience with interfacing to RF circuitry and high-speed D/A /A/D conversion.
* Experience using the Mentor Graphics tool suite; DX Designer, Constraints Editor, HyperLynx tools.
* Proven analytical skills in circuit simulation (MATLAB, LT Spice) and thermal analysis.
* Product Quality Testing and Certification.
* Experience of working with industry standard toolsets for requirement capture, design and task management.
Required Education
* Minimum of Degree in related subject, preferably in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
* Proven experience in a product design and development role within an Electronics Product Environment.
