About the Despatch Operators role: This is a shift role, working a normally fixed rota of 12 hour day & night shifts, with an 11 shift break every 5 weeks. It is essential that the successful candidate is self-motivated and can work both as part of team and alone when required. The function of the Despatch warehouse is mainly to store pallets & reels of wrapped paperboard and then load it onto HGVs for transport to our customers. Paperboard is easily damaged and the warehouse is restricted in area, so a high level of driving skill and attention to detail are very important. You will also operate computerised systems to manage the stock and apply plant safety isolations / issue Permits to Work. Our Despatch Operators will be responsible for: Communicating effectively with team members and management. Working safely, adhering to health, safety and environmental risk assessments, procedures and production standards. Performing & recording regular vehicle safety checks on fork lift trucks, reporting any issues found using the mill reporting system. Unloading conveyors and store pallets & reels of paperboard safely in designated storage locations, using our fleet of 2 & 7 tonne capacity FLTs. When scheduled for delivery to customers, stage & load the pallets & reels into HGV trailers or containers. Reliably record stock movements in the computerised system. Carrying out duties to ensure all areas of plant are tidy, maintained and run smoothly. Prepare/issue/close off permits to work. Prepare/isolate & release plant in a safe condition ready for maintenance activities. Completing training for all required tasks within the role, to become multiskilled. What we're looking for in our Despatch Operators: A valid fork lift truck driving licence. GCSE Grade 4 or above in English, Maths and Science/ICT. Equivalent qualifications/experience will also be considered. Computer literacy skills. In addition to this, the following competency is also desired: Practical experience of operating heavy fork lift trucks in an industrial environment.
