Owens Group is a fast developing, multi-site organisation with a large diverse customer base, making this an exciting opportunity. As a result, Owens Group is looking to recruit a Traffic Planner for its Pallet Network Operation in Cardiff.
Job Purpose: To take responsibility for the timely traffic planning of routes, and scheduling delivery times to ensure that the customer receives a first-class service in a cost-effective way.
Shift Pattern:
Monday - Friday Nights, 21:00 - 07:00

Experience of working in a similar job role is essential.
Extensive geographical knowledge within the CF postcode area is essential.
The ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment.
Problem solving/logical thinking.
Working unsupervised, continually managing time and prioritising work to meet tight corporate deadlines.
Good communication skills, interaction at all levels internal and external.
Team player with a flexible Can-Do attitude.
ADR/Hazardous Freight knowledge desirable (training provided).

Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
DUTIES TO COVER PALLET NETWORKS ACTIVITIES
1. Successfully plan and prioritise a large quantity of pallets, daily, to be distributed throughout the CF postcode area. Working with customers/drivers and other traffic desks scheduling delivery times to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
2. Good geographical knowledge of the CF Postcode area is key to the role.
3. Plan ADR/Hazardous Freight (training provided).
4. Ensure that planned routes are logical and cost effective.
5. Forward plan collections to coincide with deliveries in the most productive manner.
6. Forward plan vehicle maintenance and driver training/absence.
7. Be able to amend routes at short notice and prioritise workload if required.
8. Driver communication and monitoring
9. Liaise with other depots within the Company and externally within all Pallet Networks
10. Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads.
11. Proactively work to reduce late deliveries and missed time slots.
12. Ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly.
13. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
14. Maintain computerised system such as Stirling (training provided). Have the skills to use excel spread sheets and other Microsoft Office programmes.
15. A good understanding of transport regulations currently in force.
16. Booking driver agency staff depending on workload.
17. Provide general support appropriate to management when required.
