POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Association Sports Director, the Sports Coordinator assists and leads with the day-to-day operations of the youth and adult sports programs, ensuring the programs are safe, of exceptional quality, while meeting the overall goals of the program and the YMCA mission.
Hourly range: $12.00 to $15.00
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Adheres and complies with the YMCA of High Point Employee Manual, Policy & Procedures Manual, and Code of Conduct.
* Assists and leads youth and adult sports programs, including setting up, taking down, and maintaining fields and facilities, ensuring activities and events are performed on a timely basis, responsible for maintaining and setting up program equipment for games and practices, and providing exceptional customer service to coaches, parents, staff, YMCA members, and officials.
* Makes supervisor aware of any potential conflicts and, if needed, addresses these conflicts with volunteers, participants, coaches, officials, parents, and staff.
* Maintains and completes game records, scores, incident and accident reports, and other essential information for the sport.
* Assists and leads part-time staff, ensuring they use time efficiently and, if necessary, asking staff to leave when not needed.
* Models relationship-building skills in all interactions; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within the area of responsibility; maintains clear communication with the Branch Director and other staff during programs regarding potential disturbances, i.e., unruly spectators who are not following the code of conduct.
* Coordinates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations; schedules parent orientation meetings, training, and meetings for coaches.
* Assists officials in ensuring they are aware of the rules of the game and that the officials help explain calls to participants to align with being a developmental program.
* Coordinates and effectively distributes team practice and game schedules; schedules sports officials and distributes/educates sports rules, guidelines, and handbooks.
* Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs; provided opportunities to learn about the budget and what budgeted amounts are allowed to be spent.
* Organizes season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.
* Implements and monitors schedules inside and outside with troubleshooting abilities when needed.
* Organizes, schedules, and leads sports clinics.
* Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information; may organize and schedule program registrations.
* Attends and helps lead staff meetings and trainings as required by supervisors.
* Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on the YMCA.
* Assists in all other programs and functions of the Branch as deemed necessary or appropriate by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum age of 21.
* Completion within 30 days of hire CPR/First Aid/O2 Certifications. Redwoods Trainings: Managing Your Risk of Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, and Appropriate Touch.
* Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
* Basic knowledge of rules, regulations, and implementation of the following sports and sports leagues: youth and adult basketball, youth soccer, youth t-ball, and youth and adult volleyball.

* Ability to multi-task and manage multiple programs/projects.
