Key responsibilities of this role are to personally manage complex complaint files relating to dogs and stock. Using your excellent time management skills to plan busy workloads under pressure, you will confidently know how to respond to difficult situations. You will demonstrate empathy and professionalism teamed with outstanding customer service and negotiation skills to achieve best outcomes. Animal Management Officers are expected to apply the Units Compliance Strategy and the VADE compliance model.
In addition to core responsibilities, involvement in special project work is encouraged including representing the Council at meetings and in mandatory judicial hearings. This role will require you to present our educational programme to both children and adults, requiring you to be enthusiastic and passionate in your delivery.
* You will have a minimum diploma, level 5 Certificate NZQA tertiary qualification or relevant experience in one or more of the following: Animal Welfare, Enforcement or Compliance.
* You will be mature, street savvy, technically proficient administering animal related legislation and the Units compliance strategy.
* Proficient and skilled when handling dogs and stock and who can communicate at all levels, while promoting responsible dog ownership.
* A current full driver's licence is essential, together with intermediate computer skills.
Animal Management Officers juggle workloads and work 1 week a month on standby attending after hour's complaints to meet customers' needs. Having the ability to think on your feet, while making sound decisions for the community, being professional and demonstrating consistency when applying legislative requirements is a must.

Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Position - Permanent
Location- This position is primarily based at the Animal Shelter - 10 Metro Place, Bromley.
Salary-The salary band for this position goes from $74,394 to $82,660 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
