Full-Time, 1:1 Support for a Child with Autism
Location: Nelson (BB9) East Lancashire
Start Date: January 2025 (with a view to extend until the end of the acedemic year)
Hourly pay: £12.90 - £13.55 per hour (before AWR comes into effect)
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming team in Nelson (BB9). This full-time role involves providing tailored, one-to-one support for a young child with Autism, starting in January 2025. You will play a crucial part in shaping the child's early learning journey, ensuring they are included, safe, and engaged in a positive and nurturing environment.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will offer focused and consistent support to help the child thrive in the classroom. You will implement and adapt learning activities to cater to the child's unique needs, encouraging their development across social, communication, and motor skills. Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals, you will be involved in creating and reviewing personalized education plans. Your approach will foster independence and self-confidence in the child, while maintaining a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere.
The ideal candidate will have experience within the EYFS framework, with a strong understanding of the needs of children with Autism or additional learning needs. You should be warm, patient, and empathetic, with the ability to build strong relationships with the child and their family. Excellent communication skills are essential. Knowledge of Autism-specific strategies or interventions is an advantage, although we welcome candidates who are eager to learn and undergo relevant training. Flexibility and a calm demeanor in a dynamic classroom environment are crucial. While a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable, it is not a requirement.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
