Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
* Lead and develop the Social Work Academy, overseeing induction programs for new social workers, assessing and supporting newly qualified social workers and creating development workshops and group supervision sessions to promote continuous professional development.
* Coordinate and manage social work student placements, acting as a Practice Educator and ensuring placements align with course requirements and meet professional standards.
* Liaise with universities to enhance the companys profile as a social work employer, exploring innovative employment opportunities for social work graduates.
Support for Newly Qualified Social Workers
* Lead and coordinate the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) program for newly qualified social workers, ensuring all reviews are completed and Skills for Care standards are met.
* Act as an assessor for ASYE participants, supporting them in compiling their portfolios and providing additional supervision alongside their line managers.
Professional Excellence and Mentorship
* Act as an exemplar of best practice, mentoring and supporting less experienced social workers and students.
* Lead targeted workshops, provide reflective group supervision, and ensure quality assurance of Personal Development Plans and Performance Improvement Plans.
* Moderate progression portfolios for social workers seeking promotion to senior roles.
* Lead social work improvement projects, contributing to the development of policies, procedures, and practices.
* Maintain professional relationships with Social Work England, liaising with regional leads and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Leadership and Collaboration
* Provide cover for Regional Social Work Practice Managers and deputize for the Service Manager Social Work as required.
* Support the management of complex cases, ensuring timely and high-quality assessments that align with organizational standards.
* Support social workers in preparing clear, evidence-based reports for courts, case conferences, and panels, and provide guidance during presentations and court appearances.
* Chair meetings to minimize delays and ensure progress on care plans.
* Act as a support to the senior on call team and Social Work Practice Manager when needed.
Requirements
* Degree in Social Work and current registration with Social Work England or relevant regulatory body.
* Extensive experience in social work practice, particularly in supporting newly qualified social workers and leading professional development initiatives.
* Strong leadership, mentoring, and organizational skills, with a focus on innovation and excellence.
* Thorough understanding of ASYE, safeguarding, and regulatory standards.
* Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
