Main duties of the job Anaesthetic services are provided for 10 Main Theatres covering a wide range of surgical specialties including: General and Vascular Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial and Dental, Paeds, Gynaecology, Urology, Orthopaedics and Trauma. There is a separate Day Surgery Unit with 4 fully equipped theatres. There are 2 theatres and a recovery bay in the labour ward complex for elective and emergency cases. The intensive care unit provides high quality care for 15 level 3 and level 2 beds. The Fellow would be expected to spend his clinical service commitment in the anaesthetic department and an additional 1 in 8 on-call commitment with internal cover either to theatres or ITU (EWTD compliant shift system). There is daily clinical teaching in the theatres and once weekly teaching held on the unit, organised and supervised by the Consultants.
