The role We are looking for a Communications Co-ordinator to join our dynamic team. Working closely with the rest of the Communications Section, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficient flow of communication across the organisation, supporting a wide range of projects while ensuring the highest quality of content across various channels. The team The Communications Section, part of the Office of the Director General, has an important role to play in helping the Centre to achieve its strategic objectives. Its remit covers both internal and external communications. The Section leads on news and media, running effective events, stakeholder engagement, publishing, communicating with ECMWF s own diverse workforce, and on all aspects of digital communication. ECMWF is a multi-site organisation, with its headquartersin Reading, UK, a data centre in Bologna, Italy, and a large presence in Bonn, Germany as a central location for our EU-related activities.ECMWF is internationally recognised as the voice of expertise in numerical weather predictions for forecasts and climate science. www.ecmwf.int About Copernicus www.copernicus.eu About Destination Earth destine.ecmwf.int Role responsibilities Working closely with the Head of Strategic Communications, manage administrative processes for the Communications Section from purchase orders and budget oversight to ensuring information is centralised on SharePoint and cascaded to the appropriate platforms/channels accordingly. Monitor and manage all key communications metrics for ECMWF to ensure that progress is monitored and cascaded both internally and externally, ensuring for example PR evaluation metrics and Key Performance Indicators assess success of campaign and activities. As part of this monitoring, oversee regular reporting on social media and press coverage to enhance the development of the monitoring/evaluation matrix. Manage digital assets to create coordinated and consolidated responses to enquiries, especially from the media but not exclusively, and ensure all content is fully following an approval process before being published. Contribute to the development of processes and systems from, for example, crisis management and press office management, to events management. Schedule communications training for staff and users and provide administrative support in pre- and post-interview briefings. Interface with Reading, Bonn and Bologna colleagues for all aspects of delivery relating to communications - from visits, business cards to media enquiries. Organise, support and facilitate events onsite and online (via different tools eg Teams, Zoom, etc), visits and corporate events as required. Support the Communications Section with any other duties required as part of the delivery of the communications portfolio, for example joining rota for social media posting, weekly news bulletin, photography, basic design, and support in planning and hosting events both onsite and online, liaison with suppliers or partners as appropriate. What we are looking for Essential Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to deadlines; Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, including senior professionals, and navigate approval processes efficiently; Ability to apply the Centre's processes (for example: social media, publication, organisational guidelines) and develop better administrative processes; Proficiency with digital asset management systems (e.g., SharePoint) and basic experience with content management, social media and organisational tools, and events/video conferencing platforms; Ability to work under supervision while exercising independent judgment to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time; Highly adaptable and able to work under pressure; Ability to build strong relationships in a multisite environment. Education Education to EFQ Level 4 or above is required. Experience, Knowledge and Skills: Experience of working in a science environment is desirable Experience of writing, editing, proofreading documents is essential Excellent command of English (mother-tongue equivalent) with excellent writing skills. The working languages of ECMWF are English, French and German.
