The opportunity
Given increased project expansion, our client is currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to ensure the achievement of excellent health and safety management by providing professional health and safety advice throughout the Company to support the effective management of health & safety requirements and compliance with all current statutory and regulatory regulation.
This role is £52/hr Umbrella
Your responsibilities and duties will be:
Support and uphold the Group's Health & Safety practices, ensuring workplace risk assessments, health and safety inspections, and audits are completed to the highest quality standards.
Provide health and safety advice to employees, facilitating the successful implementation of the Health and Safety Management system in line with the annual Health and Safety Policy and Manual.
Thoroughly investigate all incidents, establish root causes, and implement improvements to prevent future occurrences.
Actively participate in Group and individual business unit ISO 45001 audits.
Liaise with external agencies to ensure that the Group’s policies, procedures, and practices align with current statutory and legislative requirements.
Conduct regular health and safety inspections and audits at various offices and operating sites, producing clear and detailed audit documentation after each inspection.
Communicate any identified Health & Safety non-conformances to the responsible parties, ensuring a documented report is provided with instructions for resolution. Any serious non-conformances with potential harm must be addressed immediately.
Maintain and update the Group's Health & Safety Management File, ensuring all employees are trained on the contents and requirements of their specific Health & Safety files.
Attend project kick-off and close-out meetings, both internally and client-led, when required.
Introduce innovative ideas into the Health & Safety Management System and communicate them across the Group.
Prepare project-specific Construction Phase Plans when needed.
Represent the Group at Client Health and Safety meetings when requested.
Deliver training courses and presentations on health and safety as needed.
Advise and coach employees on cultural and behavioral health and safety issues.
Provide advice on wellbeing and occupational health risks, including coordinating occupational health surveillance in collaboration with HR.
Promote the Group's core values, including the "Safest Way" and other safety initiatives.You will have the following qualifications and experience
In-depth knowledge of relevant statutory and legislative Health and Safety regulations.
Familiarity with insurance legislation and practices.
Understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) systems and compliance.
Strong people management and communication skills, including leadership, coaching, and staff development.
Proficiency in IT and related systems.
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
Effective communication at all organizational levels, including with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Commitment to continuous professional development, such as IOSH or equivalent qualifications.
Attendance at all Health and Safety meetings as required.
Site operations may require occasional travel across the UK, including overnight stays.
A current NEBOSH certificate is a minimum requirement.
Proven track record of delivering excellent Health and Safety services within an organization.
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and professional skills when interacting with staff, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.The setting of the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a pharmaceutical and chemical site. These can include noise, slips, trips and falls (high-gloss floors), mechanical hazards, extreme temperature and humidity, pressurised equipment, radiation, chemical, biological, explosive atmospheres, working at height and confined spaces during cleaning maintenance and repair.
