Staff Nurse/ODP Theatre Scrub Practitioner
RCHT is a large general hospital with a total of 16 theatres including 4 integrated suites for laparoscopic surgery. We are due to expand further with a new women's and children's wing due to be built.
We have many specialities including Trauma, CEPOD, Upper and Lower GI, Bariatrics, Paediatrics, Vascular, Gynaecology / Gynae Oncology, ENT and Maxillofacial, Ophthalmology and Maternity.
We are a diverse team who work round the clock to support the community of Cornwall plus all our many visitors.
As a unit, we recognise that there is a need to ensure that the peri-operative patients are cared for by a group of professionals that have the appropriate specialist knowledge and skill set to assess, implement and evaluate patients with related care interventions. You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills and work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and meet the person specification.

Main duties of the job
1. This role is expected to fulfil expectations as Theatre Scrub Practitioner predominantly in Trauma Theatres, Ophthalmology Theatres and General Theatres.
2. To work as a skilled member of the theatres team, providing knowledgeable assistance to operating surgeons and surgical teams during the full intraoperative pathway.
3. To deliver high-quality patient care and the management of patients during procedures performed under general, regional and local anaesthetic.
4. To develop skills and speciality-based knowledge to support surgical practice in Theatres following rotation plan in Theatres.
5. To provide a high standard of compassionate patient-centred care.
6. To lead and supervise the work of other qualified and unqualified staff within the team.
7. To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
8. To be able to take charge of the given shift for a surgical operating list and a group of patients in the absence of senior nursing staff, as deemed appropriate by the Person-in-charge or Clinical Matron.
