The Estates, Engineering and Facilities (EEF) Department is responsible for the engineering function comprising maintenance, validation, and calibration of assets, as well as repairs and capital work. Adopting the guiding principles of engineering excellence, EEF strives to contain and control risks associated with assets, infrastructure, and critical equipment on the estate.
Responsibilities:
* Supporting the line manager in assigning the day-to-day tasks within the team and deputising when required.
* Carrying out site-wide routine integrity performance testing on UKHSA's Safety and GxP related facilities and equipment, including testing of High Efficiency Particle Air filters (HEPA), Microbiological safety cabinets, and air sealability of CL3 and 4 containment Laboratories.
* Fault finding and repairing Microbiological safety cabinets.
* Preparing and reviewing technical reports for facilities and equipment as necessary.
* Conducting compliance testing and executing validation protocols in accordance with safety and UKHSA codes of practice.
* Ensuring test data is accurately recorded and records maintained, providing oral and written reports on activities when required.
* Liaising with Lab users and engineering support to ensure user and testing requirements are met, witnessing testing and validation activities of sub-contracted staff.
* Advising lab users and applying innovative solutions to achieve UKHSA's business needs, deadlines, and targets, and attending Factory Acceptance Tests for new equipment if required.
* Performing any tasks assigned or objectives set by the Line Manager.
EEF manages and controls the Principal Maintenance Contractor (PMC) in the delivery of operations and maintenance to optimise asset value and contribute to EEF's strategic objectives. EEF engages with site stakeholders over current and future engineering requirements to ensure the engineering function supports the needs of the business. The function embraces all engineering aspects from the supply of utilities, provision of environmental conditions to meet regulatory/compliance needs (HSE, MHRA, FDA, DEFRA, Home Office) for high containment and general research laboratories, pharmaceutical production facilities, cell culture storage facilities, and general offices, through to minor/major servicing, validation, calibration, and installation of specialised laboratory/process equipment.
We are now recruiting for a Senior Compliance Technician role within a small team dedicated to carrying out performance integrity testing and validation of microbiological high containment facilities and equipment in accordance with safety, regulatory, and UKHSA requirements. We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice, where Everyone Matters, promoting equality of opportunity to actively encourage applications from everyone, including groups currently underrepresented in our workforce. UKHSA's ethos is to be an inclusive organisation for all our staff and stakeholders, creating, nurturing, and sustaining an inclusive culture where differences drive innovative solutions to meet the needs of our workforce and wider communities.
