The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.

Essential Job Functions – Duties & Accountabilities
It is expected that the Preschool Teacher will:
* Have a conviction that God has called him/her to serve as a Christian early educator.
* Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity.
* Attend and participate in all staff prayer times.
* Provide a personal introduction to God and Jesus in an age-appropriate manner so that the Holy Spirit can draw the children into a relationship with Christ.
* Introduce children to concepts of God's love for them and their value because they are created by God.
* Help each child become aware of their role as an integral group member.
* Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters.
* Ensure the classroom work environment is Christian-based, nurturing, wholesome, and loving.
* Work with the administration and staff to address the spiritual formation needs of the children in the Christian early childhood enrichment program.
* Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration.
Academic Leadership
* Know and meet the expectations of the enrichment program's curriculum, standards, and mission.
* Participate in planning the yearly theme, topic web and preparing requisite lesson plans to match the termly scope and sequence of skills scheduled by the Board of Management/Preschool director.
* Create activity plans which reflect the enrichment program's curriculum, Christian values, standards, policies, and philosophies.
* Teach classes as assigned, following the prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Board of Management/Preschool Director.
* Integrate biblical principles and the Christian worldview throughout the early education curriculum and activities.
* Seek to address the individual child's cognitive, spiritual, physical, emotional, and social needs in a group environment.
* Assist children to develop communication skills and serve as an appropriate language model.
* Use classroom management techniques that build children's ability to make choices and be self-directed.
* Ensure that his/her school classroom reflects a professional and Christian environment.
* Have knowledge of the physical/emotional development of preschool children and understand the unique developmental strands common among the ages served.
* Develop lesson plans which reflect the program's curriculum, Christian values, and standards.
* Develop lesson plans that, as much as possible, meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the children, challenging each to do his/her best work.
* Promote children's exploration of situations and materials by asking questions and by providing appropriate materials and guidance.
* Create and employ a variety of teaching aids, instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, cognitive, physical, social, and emotional.
* Plan and implement a wide variety of play-to-learn activities that are balanced in their scope and are relevant to the lives of 3-5-year-olds.
* Participate in staff planning meetings and submit suggestions to the Board of Management/ Preschool Director ideas for field trips, guest speakers, and other media which support a balanced classroom, and which are in alignment with lesson and activity plans.
* Observe the development of children regularly and provide progress reports as required by administrative policies.
* Respond promptly to parent requests for help or information or to parent complaints.
* Participate in formal and informal parent-teacher conferences.
* Participate in continuous professional development through professional reading and attendance at in-service, workshops and conferences.
* Seek and accept constructive evaluation of his/her job performance.
Professional Leadership
* Participate in accomplishing the goals and objectives assigned by school administration and school policy.
* Understand the necessity of closely supervising children and how to lead them positively.
* Keep proper discipline in the classroom and in the preschool for a good learning environment.
* Confront children in situations that pose a danger to other children.
* Attend weekly staff meetings to ensure coordination of programs and suggest solutions for problem resolution of any challenges. Provide suggestions as needed for the school's master calendar.
* Submit lesson plans every week as prescribed in the teacher handbook.
* Participate in beginning-of-year staff orientation, daily staff devotionals, staff meetings, and Parent/Teacher Fellowship/Conferences.
* Respect professional ethics that require confidentiality concerning sharing information about children, parents, or staff.
* Maintain regular and accurate attendance and observation records to meet the demands for comprehensive knowledge of each student's progress.
* Keep parents and the director adequately informed of progress and/or concerns that might lead to screening or referral suggestions.
* Know the procedures for dealing with classroom and program emergencies. Conduct required emergency safety drills in coordination with program leadership.
* Report safety, health, and maintenance needs that are observed by appropriate individuals.
* Inform the administration promptly if unable to fulfill any assigned duty.
* Deal directly and candidly with the program administration when honest differences exist in an earnest effort to resolve such differences.
Additional Duties or Responsibilities
* Represent the early childhood profession positively in the community through effectively communicating the early education program's mission and its value for children.
* Participate in the school's development programs and activities in constituency relations, fundraising, and student recruitment and retention.
* Ensure that all money collected by the preschool staff is recorded, kept safe, and handed over to the director everyday per the policies of the Board of Management.
* Support the broader school program by attending activities when possible.
* Involve parents in prayer and volunteerism, as appropriate.
* Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom. Share in the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
* Participate in the end-of-year closing of school process such as inventorying materials, manipulatives, furniture, equipment, etc.
* Perform any other duties assigned by the Board of Management/Preschool Director or any duly authorized representative.
Requirements
Qualifications
You must be a born-again believer, in faithful weekly attendance at a full gospel, Bible-believing church, and committed to the ministry for the Lord. You must be a conscientious, reliable, and responsible individual who can follow directions, take responsibility, and submit to authority (Hebrews 13:17).

* Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the Board of Management.
Knowledge
* Possess a strong understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of early childhood education.
* Possess a strong understanding of evaluation and measurement techniques.
* Possess a strong understanding of current teaching methodologies, principles, and techniques.
* Possess a solid understanding of the philosophy and psychology of education.
* Possess a thorough understanding of how to use and operate tools, equipment, and machinery related to the subject area(s).
* Have a good understanding of safety protocols that are specific to the location where teaching will take place.
* Possess a proficient understanding of the principles and techniques involved in counseling.
* Intermediary knowledge of the relevant computer applications.
* Possess a fundamental knowledge of the principles and application of First Aid.

Minimum Experience And Training
* Hold a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) from an accredited university (inclusive of practicum).
* 5 CXC/GCE O Levels (General Proficiency), including Mathematics and English.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of ECCE.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in Christian Education.
* Minimum of 3 years experience in Christian Counseling.
* Minimum of 3 years experience in Curriculum Development and Implementation at the classroom level – ECCE.
* Maintain current infant/child CPR and first aid certification.
