Manager, Governance and Compliance Role Summary The Manager, Governance, and Compliance is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the organization maintains a robust, proactive, and future-focused governance, compliance, and regulatory framework. This critical role spans financial crime management, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk oversight. The role holder will be pivotal in maintaining operational integrity, ensuring compliance with rapidly evolving UK and EU regulatory landscapes, and driving organizational resilience. As a member of the UK Compliance team, the role holder will also serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), ensuring the effectiveness of the organization’s Financial Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Control Frameworks. This role also includes oversight of key regulatory frameworks such as Consumer Duty, Authorised Push Payment Fraud regulations, and the Operational and Security Risk Report, ensuring timely and effective implementation and compliance. Key Duties and Responsibilities Governance and Regulatory Compliance Define, develop, implement, refine, and oversee a comprehensive governance and compliance framework. Ensure compliance with UK/EU regulatory requirements, including Consumer Duty, PSD2, APP Fraud regulations, and other emerging laws Financial Crime and AML Oversight Serve as MLRO, managing financial crime risks and ensuring the organization’s AML framework is effective. Lead the development and refinement of Financial Crime and AML programs, including SAR reporting and collaboration with authorities. Risk Management and Control Frameworks Conduct risk assessments across governance, compliance, and financial crime areas, identifying gaps and implementing controls. Ensure timely response to regulatory changes and risk events, safeguarding organizational integrity. Training, Collaboration, and Stakeholder Engagement Deliver training and support to teams on governance, compliance, and financial crime matters. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance obligations are met for new products, systems, and processes. Reporting and Communication Prepare and deliver comprehensive compliance and governance reports for senior management, the board, and regulatory bodies. Develop management information (MI) frameworks to track compliance performance, risks, and remediation efforts. Maintain clear and timely communication with external regulatory bodies, including filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and other required submissions. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of compliance activities, investigations, and audits to demonstrate adherence to regulatory expectations. Global and Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with global internal compliance teams to identify clear steps necessary to mitigate regulatory risks and provide recommendations as clear business requirements Partner with Product Owners and Tech Leads to educate and drive the appropriate execution of compliance requirements Qualifications and Skills: Minimum Qualification : A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. Preferred Qualification : A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or Corporate Governance) or a combination of advanced academic education and practical expertise. Professional Certification : A recognized qualification such as ICA, ACAMS, CFA, CISI, or equivalent is required or strongly preferred. Certifications or training in MLRO, Consumer Duty, or emerging regulatory frameworks are an advantage. Minimum Experience : 5-7 years of experience in governance, compliance, financial crime, or a related role within the financial services, fintech, or payments industry. Preferred Experience : Experience in leadership or senior compliance positions, including managing AML programs, and financial crime frameworks, and navigating UK/EU regulatory landscapes (e.g., FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, PSD2).
