Job Description:
• Working as a member of the Assembly Integration and Test team with Mechanical and Electrical specialists whose objective is to produce world-leading satellite payloads.
• The Test Ops Support Engineer is responsible for supervision of test execution activities within the payload AIT facility, providing first-line support across all test phases and projects, and offering test engineering and process support to shop floor operations.
• The Test Ops Support Engineer will drive continuous improvements and reduction of non-quality in the area of electrical and RF test operations.
Responsibilities
Safety
• Ensure test safety measures and procedures are adhered to during payload testing, including DC safety and High power RF safety.
• Involved in the definition/review of the standard bay layout.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across test activities and test equipment.
• Contribute to process confirmation regarding the use/storage/maintenance of test assets.
• Responsible for raising test-related safety issues within the SQCDP and FISH tools.
Reporting
• Carry out a standard handover to the next Test Operations Support Engineer to ensure key messages are understood, followed by a follow-up email.
• Escalate issues via SQCDP meetings as required, Test Management, or using on-call when out of hours.
• Provide shift team with positive and constructive feedback to help develop them as operators and escalate any recurrent or serious issues to the cleanroom manager.
Quality
• Ensure all tasks are carried out to the correct level of quality and escalate any issues to operations management.
• Participate in Practical Problem Solving (PPS) sessions to define root causes and escalate as required.
• Support any improvement roadmap/objectives related to Test in the cleanroom.
• Responsible for logging anomalies or deviations and carrying out first-level diagnosis.
Disciplines
• Enforce all cleanroom rules with anyone working in the cleanroom.
• Monitor team discipline while working on assigned tasks and raise any issues with the operations team leader.
• Ensure that test processes are followed by the operations team and escalate any deviations or behavioral issues through operations team management.
Work Setting
• Manage all cleanroom operational processes owned by the payload test team for all payload test phases.
• Work with Lead Engineers to agree on the daily contract of work and highlight any difficulties based on resources, tools, and means.
• Support the RF Lead in forward planning and ensure paperwork and test aids are available.
• Drive testing locally in the cleanroom and ensure all tasks are pursued continuously and efficiently.
• Responsible for ensuring the correct test aids are available for project test phases and investigations.
• Act as the payload test team interface with the operations team at shop floor level for test operational tasks.
• Monitor the team as they carry out tasks ensuring completion within the set duration and provide feedback to the Lead Engineer for lessons learned.
Qualifications / Experience
Required Experience:
• Electrical and/or RF Engineering skills.
• Experience in an Electrical Test environment.
• Minimum HND level or equivalent industry experience in Electrical/Electronic discipline, Electrical Test Engineering, or RF & Communications.
• Strong Electrical/RF test measurement experience.
• Problem-solving aptitude.
• Clear and confident communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Confidence in dealing with challenging situations.
• Good time management skills.
• Ability to understand technical documents, drawings, procedures, etc.
• Workplace health and safety awareness.
• Flexibility to adapt to different working patterns, including off-site work (UK and abroad).
Desired Experience:
• Cleanroom experience.
• Management and/or Team leading experience.
• Electrical Test System Design/validation experience.
• Previous experience of telecoms payload test.
