About the role: We’re one of the largest energy generators in the UK, with our main site in North Yorkshire covering 13 square miles. That means there are a lot of complex and interesting structures to work on, not to mention some of the new ones in the pipeline. You’ll be supporting the activities of the Civil/Structural Engineering Department, working closely with the team’s Lead Structural Engineer. You’ll be getting stuck in on a diverse portfolio of projects across Drax power station and supporting a nationally significant asset, while learning invaluable skills for your future career at the same time. As a Year in industry student, you can expect to get involved in projects such as road repairs, fibre reinforced concrete slabs, steelwork strengthening, and concrete repairs, or management of smaller repairs and structural defects to maintain the structural assets. Overall, it has been a really enjoyable experience.” Who we’re looking for: To be successful in this role you’ll be Working towards an MEng or BEng in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering. Currently enrolled in a course that allows for a 12-month industrial placement. Willing to travel to our site in Selby, Yorkshire Monday to Friday. Able to understand typical structural defects and their causes. Strong technical skills with experience with AutoCAD and an understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards. Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially for preparing reports and working with spreadsheets. Confident in your communication skills, developing the ability to effectively chair meetings.
