Software Test Lead / Test & Verification Lead
I have an exciting opportunity for a Software Test Lead / Test & Verification Lead to join my client, a rapidly growing technology company based in Central Bristol. This role requires candidates to be on-site three days a week and, due to the nature of the work, applications are open only to British citizens as they need to put their Employees through security clearance.
This company do some super cool stuff (well I think so anyway!) and are at the forefront of cutting-edge Unmanned Aviation Vehicles, essentially advanced drones, used globally by the MOD, search and rescue teams, for environmental mapping projects, and even to combat modern-day train robberies in the U.S. Having grown from 50 to 180 employees in just a few years, they are scaling their tech team rapidly and taking on larger, more complex projects than ever before.
They now have a brand new role for a Software Test Lead to head up their team of four Software Test & Test and Verification Engineers and take over responsibility for them from their Head of Development. This role will be a blend of hands-on testing and line management responsibilities, ensuring sufficient test coverage, collaborating with stakeholders to define testing requirements, and supporting Project Managers in scoping and estimating testing tasks. You’ll play a key role in maintaining high-quality testing processes, aligning goals with other Tech Team Leads, and driving overall efficiency.
As the Software Testing Lead, you will be responsible for line management, including 1-1s, goal setting, and performance reviews, as well as mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing to keep the team ahead of the curve in software testing. You will also define testing documentation and coding standards while supporting recruitment alongside the Software Engineering Manager.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Test Lead with a strong background in testing complex software beyond just web applications. Experience in real-time and embedded software, safety-related engineering practices, aeronautics and control systems, or drones and aviation technology would be highly desirable. A deep understanding of testing and test management tools is essential, along with experience mentoring and coaching Test Engineers.
The salary for this role is between £60,000 and £70,000, with a bonus of up to 15% and an excellent benefits package. If you are keen to find out more, then apply now or get in touch with Sam Miller at SR2 (Socially Responsible Recruitment) to find out more!
