Harper Adams University is a unique and pleasant place to work. We take care of our colleagues, respect and value all our staff by providing an excellent holiday package, enhanced pay for Bank Holiday working and access to an excellent pension scheme. Due to the continual growth of our award-winning global reputation and the expansion of our campus, we are seeking to enhance our excellent and well-respected in-house Security and Portering team to ensure continued success. The role is key to providing excellent customer service to the university community.
The role will be based at the beautiful rural location at our Newport campus. You should have a reasonable level of physical fitness to carry out portering duties. The successful applicants would ideally have experience in working in an education or similar environment which provides daytime and nighttime accommodation for people aged 18 plus, but this is not essential as full training will be provided.
Most important is to enjoy working with people, have a positive can-do attitude, and the ability to work both as part of a team as well as with limited supervision using your initiative. You will be confident and outgoing with both excellent customer care and communication skills. You will be a responsible, credible individual who will work to a high standard, operating at all times with integrity, discretion, and honesty when dealing with sensitive issues.
You will be working a 37-hour week Mon-Fri either 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. Full on-site training will be provided, and you will also be expected to attend any training courses deemed necessary to aid you whilst carrying out your duties. A full driving license is essential for this role.
If you believe you match the person we are seeking and can be an excellent ambassador for the University with the exceptional people skills needed for success, then we welcome your application.
If you have any queries or questions or for an informal discussion, please contact David Harding, Interim Facilities Manager (e: dharding@harper-adams.ac.uk, t: 01952 820280).
Application Procedure:
Applications should be made by sending a full Curriculum Vitae (to include two referee details) and supporting statement, which clearly highlights how your skills and experience match the requirements of the role, to Jayne Weaver via email to vacancies@harper-adams.ac.uk by no later than midnight on Sunday 2 March 2025.
