Electrical Reliability Test Engineer (924)
Location: Cranfield
Hourly Rate: £27.00 p/h
We are recruiting for an Electrical Reliability Test Engineer for a globally recognised automotive company based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role, with the potential to extend over several years.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Management of electrical function, performance, and reliability tests related to Body Electronics systems and CAN architecture/network testing.
2. Lead concern identification to root cause investigation, including recommending countermeasures.
3. Support design departments to ensure the quality of component testing.
4. Create test plans to meet project and design milestones.
5. Develop testing procedures and confirm vehicle specifications and test parts, including arrangement of vehicle transportation when needed.
6. Act as the technical coordinator for overall vehicle testing, where required.
7. Formally report test results to design sections and upper management.
8. Prioritise and multitask across multiple projects simultaneously.
9. Provide technical support to the production plant and test house as necessary.
10. Offer field investigation support for responsible systems.
11. Manage suppliers to ensure quality.
12. Ensure testing meets client’s standards and complete validation within project milestones.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
2. Working knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture and an understanding of electrical theory and electronic devices.
3. Understanding of electromagnetics fundamentals and EMC test requirements.
4. Experience with risk assessment of electrical design and generation of test plans.
5. Knowledge of network communications and bus principles (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
6. Ability to read system circuit diagrams and identify electrical connections.
7. Practical experience with problem-solving tools and techniques.
8. Experience with digital oscilloscopes, network, and RF measurement equipment.
9. Relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic system development, having completed at least two vehicle developments or equivalent experience.
10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
11. Ability to travel abroad for short trips (typically a few days to 2 weeks) or long-distance trips (up to 10 weeks) on rare occasions and at short notice.
12. Competency with PC applications, including Microsoft Excel and Project.
13. Self-motivated, proactive, with a positive, energetic attitude and flexibility in working practices and hours.
14. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Hours & Pay:
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.
Hourly rate: £27.00 p/h.
