The role
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will help support our military customer in the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of vehicles.
Day-to-day, you'll carry out routine maintenance, mechanical and electrical repairs, and modifications on vehicles and small plant equipment held at Chatham Station.
* Carry out equipment and component serviceability inspections.
* Identify mechanical and electrical faults with vehicle and equipment components, assemblies and systems.
* Ensure all equipment maintenance and repairs are completed in accordance with Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP).
* Carry out road tests of vehicles, and functional testing of equipment sub-assemblies and systems.
* Identify replacement parts and assemblies using Military Information Systems
* Support the continuous improvement of the department and contribute towards the RSME contracts continuous improvement targets.
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time 37 hours per week and is based on site at Chatham.

Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic
* Served a recognised apprenticeship in Automotive Engineering or served in HM Armed Forces as a Trade Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic (VM)
* UK Driving Licence
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
