Job summary
As a business Manager within the Private Rented Sector (PRS) Directorate, you will be integral to building strong relationships within the organisation, driving effective financial management, and embedding finance and public value at the core of decision-making. Your role will be to bridge the gap between Finance Business Partners and Policy Leads and supporting Policy Leads with providing returns. Your core task will be to ensure efficient utilisation of budgets and ensuring everything is on track.�
There will be a significant level of stakeholder engagement in which chairing meetings with confidence will prove most useful. Maintaining key pre-existing relationships and developing new ones is fundamental to the success of the role. Previous experience of managing a portfolio of budgets is desirable. Job description
Some examples of day to tasks include, but not limited to:
1. Day-to-day management of the finance responsibilities for the Private Rented Sector (PRS) to ensure it is operating efficiently and effectively.
2. Constantly analyse financial data to highlight and alert Senior Members of PRS of any risks and potential over/under spend as soon as possible.
3. Discuss potential overspend / underspend with Policy Leads/Senior Members of PRS to help make informed decisions on where to channel available funds.
4. Being the first point of contact for initial finance related queries, budget position, potential spend, any other finance issues.
5. Manage the quarterly meetings with His Majesty Court Tribunal Services (HMCTS) colleagues. Ensure all spend is scrutinised.
6. Reconcile spending / forecast, revised variances & manage accruals.
7. Continuously review the PRS revised budget spreadsheet and update the finance forecast sheet.
8. Write up monthly forecast commentary and prepare the monthly forecast returns for the director� sign off by meeting Policy Leads
9. Managing central requests for information/figures and providing clear instructions to policy leads as required and streamlining emails and meetings advance of deadlines.
10. Draft and assist with any other ad-hoc Finance Requests, managing business tracker, any commissions, etc.
11. Provide any MI/data required to assist others in fulfilling their roles.
12. Assisting the Division with Business cases; developing and driving them forward
13. Leading on the Division�s Spending Review, Business Planning returns and other HMT commissions
14. Deputising for Finance G7 where necessary.
15. The Job holder will also be required to assist and support the policy team they operate within as part of their duties outside of Finance.
Person specification
Excellent oral and written communications skills with confidence, including the ability to explain complex information and ideas to non-specialists.
1. A willingness and interest in proactively and positively building relationships with external stakeholders.
2. Excellent Microsoft Office skills, in particular Microsoft Excel to be able to record, manipulate data and use more advanced functions of Excel to showcase data in easy to understand tables and graphs
Desirable Criteria
3. A previous experience in managing a budget portfolio would prove useful in this role
4. Experience in engaging with stakeholders
5. This role could be beneficial to someone working towards accountancy qualifications CIMA/CIFA/ACCA etc but not essential
