We’re looking for a Packaging and Indirect Manager to join our team in Spalding, Lincolnshire on an initial 12-month contract.
The Packaging and Indirect Manager is responsible for managing and optimising the procurement of indirect goods and services across the UK Operation sites. This role focuses on developing and implementing procurement strategies to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and ensure alignment with business objectives, while fostering strategic pan-European collaboration to drive change.
Responsibilities include:
1. Oversee daily packaging operations to maintain product quality and freshness.
2. Implement and maintain quality assurance, meeting regulatory standards.
3. Ensure food safety compliance, including FDA and HACCP protocols.
4. Track packaging costs, identify savings, and prepare budget reports.
5. Lead and train packaging team to achieve production and quality goals.
6. Collaborate with procurement and inventory for efficient stock use.
7. Drive sustainability initiatives in packaging to minimize environmental impact.
8. Optimize packaging processes to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
9. Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance and compliance.
10. Support procurement planning and cost-saving initiatives across indirect goods.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Excellent background experience in a packaging management role, ideally within operations and fresh produce.
2. Proven experience in leading procurement and packaging activities across UK markets.
3. Strong contract negotiation and supplier management skills.
4. Excellent understanding of purchasing and packaging processes and tools.
5. Experience in conducting spend analysis, cost modelling, and market analysis.
6. Proficient in building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers & engaging workforces to drive change.
7. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for cost savings and value creation.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively across different functions and regions.
9. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
