An opportunity has arisen for Senior Engineer – Mechanical Development and Test Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. The purpose of the role is to support the coordination of the diverse range of test and development activities within WAE, including test preparation, planning, logistics, and test support activities for the heavy industry.
As a senior role, the candidate will assist engineers and the head of department in generating test results consistently to enable key decision making within projects.
Job role:
* Managing and updating test procedures for the Heavy industry and Rail
* Identifying the preferred test houses and locations and updating preferred supplier lists.
* Overseeing the development of test equipment and test rigs to perform tests
* Test Preparation, Instrumentation, Supplier Facility Planning, and Test Logistics including the ordering of parts where required
* Managing Systems Preparation and Commissioning of Hardware at test locations.
* Supporting Electrical Systems and Software teams as required
* Reviewing project Design Verification Plans and supporting PMs and Systems Engineering in creating accurate test plans
* Local management of Instrumentation and data management recording as required
* Engaging with Global Test Facilities
* Creating, reviewing, and managing Instrumentation requirements
* Engaging with Systems Engineering and DVP owners to ensure compatible plans
* Collaborating with procurement and workshop to keep track of facility plans
* Working closely with Head of Department to develop the Mechanical Engineering team skills and capabilities
* Running and coordinating Tests Globally
* Mentoring and aiding the development of team members
* A potential for extended travel to Australia and US
You’ll have:
* Mechanical Engineering graduate or experience in a similar industry
* Test & Development Experience
* Experience of data acquisition and control software (Ideally System monitor Atlas, IPEmotion)
* Experience of 3D CAD and PML software (ideally NX and Team centre)
* Working Collaboratively within a Cross Functional Team
* Hands-on proactive attitude and comfortable in completing practical tasks (test rig, prototype assemblies)
* Able to work in a very challenging time schedule.
* Data acquisition and analysis experience is desirable with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
