The role is Monday to Friday, with most hours expected between 9 AM and 5 PM.
This is a busy and engaging position, ideal for gaining experience within the civil service. It offers significant scope for skill development and leadership and often serves as a springboard for promotion.

The initial contract is expected to last 3 months, with a possibility of extension depending on resourcing needs.
While not regularly involving travel, the role may occasionally require face-to-face meetings at other DfE sites (likely no more than once a month), depending on support needs for Deputy Directors.
Job Description:
This role is within the Director's Office and Directorate Support Team, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support their duties effectively.
The role requires someone attentive to detail who can also consider the bigger picture strategically. We seek a highly organised individual capable of prioritising multiple, often competing, responsibilities. You will be part of a high-performing team and supportive network of PAs and wider Directorate and Corporate support staff.
Key responsibilities
1. Planning and scheduling: Assist with and maintain systems for effective planning and scheduling. Manage diaries for Deputy Directors, including setting up meetings, maintaining stakeholder schedules, and preparing papers/briefings/agendas.
2. Monitoring and reporting: Help maintain project controls and produce project reports.
3. Admin: Organise meetings, providing secretariat support as needed.
4. Stakeholders: Maintain relationships and respond to external requests promptly.
5. Collaborations: Work with divisional teams to support responses for various commissions, coordinating responses with the wider PA network when appropriate.
6. Organisation: Arrange internal events and meetings.
7. Additional duties: Support Directorate-level boards and assist with reward and recognition processes.
8. Travel arrangements: Book travel and accommodation following Department policies.
9. Skills: Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, proficiency in MS Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
10. Communication: Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of articulating complex messages.
11. Teamwork: Work effectively within a team, showing flexibility and adaptability.
12. Analytical skills: Process large information sets, draw conclusions, and make clear recommendations.
