This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered and additional DCC PA may be offered through negotiation depending on service need. Duties will be primarily based on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites with expectations of potential on-site presence at Dewsbury, Pontefract and/or our Community Diagnostic Centre in Wakefield. A brief description of the post: This replacement post is primarily to complement the existing chest radiology team comprising 6 substantive consultant radiologists, some of whom have additional subspecialty interests. The successful candidate will support and enable the team to deliver a sustainable excellent service throughout the year for acute and elective respiratory and oncology pathways in the context of increasing demands and service delivery expectations particularly around cancer. They will primarily report specialist chest imaging, as well as support the weekly lung cancer and benign multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Expertise in image-guided chest biopsy/drainage and/or cardiac imaging would be advantageous. The post-holder will join a team of 42 other consultant radiologists who provide a wide range of subspecialist and general radiological services. General radiology diagnostic skills are essential and the post holder is expected to contribute to the departmental general radiology workload, including acute CT. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the general diagnostic on call rota, circa 1 in 20 weeknights and 1 in 10 weekends; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working. Acute CT is outsourced overnight and there is a separate non-vascular intervention rota. Additional subspecialty interests can be accommodated depending on service need. Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) will be available in accordance with the Trust Framework, with a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service; this may include formal teaching or leadership roles. The provisional timetable shown below represents the anticipated PA commitments, but may be adjusted by negotiation to suit the appointee and fulfil service requirements. Networked working arrangements will be considered to provide specialist clinical work not performed at MYNHST through agreement with local NHS trusts. Teleradiology is in use and all Consultants are offered access to a home workstation with secure VPN Broadband connection to enable connection to the Trust network for remote reporting. Office Space is provided across the trust in a flexible arrangement depending on site presence within an agreed job plan. Pooled secretarial support will be provided.
