Band 4 Nursing Associates work closely with people who useour services and play an important contribution in how people experience ourservices. Band 4 Nursing Associates are expected to:
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and beaccountable to the ADHD Specialist clinicians and service manager
Be accountable as professionals registered withthe NMC and work to the Code for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates
Analysis of rating scales
Gathering developmental history
Review of physical health questions
Psychosocial interventions
Promote health and prevent ill health
Provide and monitor care
Work to improve safety and the quality of care
As a Nursing Associate you may be expected to practiceany of the skills listed in the NMC Standards of Proficiency skills annexes, or to beresponsible for the care delivered to a number of service users however, youwill always be supervised by a registered nurse and receive support from thewider multi- disciplinary team. We believe that the best health care isdelivered by multi-disciplinary teams working well together and in partnershipwith other services to provide seamless care.

As a Nursing Associate you will contribute to the provisionof safe and high-quality services by:
Working to the standards set out in the NMC Codefor Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates
Recognising issues relating to safeguardingvulnerable children and adults and report any problems or raise concerns to theappropriate registered care professionals (including raising a safeguardingalert)

Provide and monitor care:
Nursing Associates have a set of skills which enables you toprovide and monitor care across most health and social care settings. You willbe expected to :
Develop understanding of all elements of thenursing process within the ADHD service and be able to assist the registered mentalhealth nurses in the on-going assessment, planning, management and evaluationof care
Assist in the delivery of complex care asprescribed by the registered mental health nurse
Analysis of rating scales and developmental andearly education history
Work with patients and registered nurses todevelop and implement care plans within
the scope of your competence
Provide skilled, evidence-based care whichadheres to agreed policies and procedures
Take responsibility for monitoring and evaluatingcare
Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety ofindividuals is maintained at all times
Demonstrate the ability to recognise changingpriorities, seeking advice and guidance from the registered nurse or otherregistered care professionals as appropriate
Report back and share information with theregistered mental health nurses on the condition, behaviour, activity andresponses of individuals
Recognise deterioration in patients and escalateconcerns appropriately
Demonstrate good understanding of principles ofconsent and ensure valid consent is obtained prior to undertaking nursing andcare procedures
Act as a patient advocate within themulti-disciplinary team
Signpost to other teams or services asappropriate

Service specific responsibilities:
To undertake and interpret clinical observationscontributing to a patients initial ADHD assessment including the review of self-reportmeasures; rating scales; direct and indirect structured observations
Conducting semi-structured interviews withclients, family members and others involved in the clients care under thedirection of the RMN
Develop an understanding of caring forindividuals with conditions relevant to scope of service
Accurately record health assessments
Support patients with all aspects of care
Identify and record physical health care needswithin care plans
Demonstrate good understanding of the MentalCapacity Act and apply principles to everyday practice seeking advice /guidance from the Registered Nurse or registered care professional as required.
To work to deliver therapeutic observation andactively deliver group sessions
To conduct audits as directed by the ADHDSpecialist Practitioner and service manager
