Job summary Band 7 Delivery Suite Ward Manager An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Maternity Services at Oxford University Hospital's NHS Foundation Trust for an exceptional, committed, and motivated midwife for the post of Delivery Suite Ward Manager The Band 7 midwife has continuing responsibility while on duty to manage Delivery Suite, including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. The Midwife will facilitate innovative and evidence based midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team. The post holder will have managerial responsibility for a group of staff working within their practice area. Main duties of the job Role Summary: The band 7 midwife has continuing responsibility while on duty to manage delivery suite or equivalent sphere of midwifery practice, including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. The Midwife will facilitate innovative and evidence based midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team He/she will have managerial responsibility for a group of staff working within their practice area. The Midwife will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential The Midwife will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to women, their baby's and their family's care to promote the close integration of community and hospital based care. The Midwife will report directly to and develop close working relationships with the the Director of Midwifery/Clinical Midwifery Manager on operational and general management issues and clinical issues relevant to their practice area/team. The Midwife will liaise with members of the OBU Midwifery education team to develop an effective learning environment for students and new members of staff. The Midwife will assist the Director of Midwifery/Clinical Midwifery Matron in achieving the strategic objectives for the Maternity service. We have 4 stand-alone Midwifery Led Birth units within the county based at Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage and Wallingford as well as offering home births to all areas. As a large Tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe offers a large Delivery Suite with an en-suite birthing pool room, 3 Maternity theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward. There are specialist services such as the Fetal and Maternal Medicine Team and Bereavement Team. For those working with us, we have a named Maternity Psychologist 3 days a week to support all staff, as well as an ever-expanding team of Professional Midwifery Advocates to provide pastoral support.
