Sendias Bathnes offers free, impartial and confidential information, advice and support to children and young people between the ages of 0 to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their parents/carers. Part of our Minimum Standards for Delivery is the requirement for an independent Advisory Group which includes representatives from service user groups and key stakeholders from education, social care and health. The Advisory Group has a role in challenging the service s delivery, to ensure that it has strategies in place and evidence of being at arms-length from the Local Authority (LA) and the Integrated Care Board (ICB) across Bath and North East Somerset. The group also represents, champions and promotes the role of Sendias Bathnes. We are currently recruiting for an Independent Chair to lead and manage the business of the Advisory Group. This is an interesting and varied voluntary role which includes: Chairing Advisory Group meetings Meeting, consulting with and influencing representatives of the Local Authority/ICB and other stakeholders, as required Proactively raising, challenging and appraising opportunities and issues for the service. This role requires someone who has an understanding of special educational needs and disability services, is conversant with Local Authority and ICB commissioned and contracted service delivery, and is able to lead, influence and challenge.
