Working as part of our Buying team, you'll work closely with our Merchandisers to ensure our products are in the right place, at the right time. You will help develop and sell products that represent fantastic value for money, offer great quality, are innovative and sustainable. You will also be responsible for trading ranges to optimise sales and profit and for developing strong relationships with our suppliers.
You will be joining a talented team of Buyers, Merchandisers and Designers.

The goal of Commercial is to drive sales and profit for Dunelm through sourcing the best quality products, at the best prices, from sustainable and ethical sources. The Commercial Team encompasses Buying, Merchandising, Sourcing, Technical and Design.
You will be a key member of the Commercial Team, accountable for executing the trading and sourcing strategy for your product department.

What you'll be doing
* Develop Departmental Strategy:
o Use data and insights to enhance performance and customer experience.
o Analyze sales and profit, collaborate with the Merchandising team for historical performance, gap analysis, and competitive pricing.
o Work cross-functionally to identify opportunities for new products, quality improvements, sustainability, and visual merchandising.
* Sales and Profit Management:
o Daily management and review of the sales and profit budget.
o Propose actions to improve performance.
o Negotiate with suppliers on costs, terms, rebates, and promotional support to boost sales and profit.
* Range Building:
o Develop and manage the entire product range, including web exclusives.
o Research new products and trends, plan range and price architecture, and create exit plans.
* Supplier Management:
o Build long-term relationships with suppliers, including overseas visits.
o Understand supply chain and production processes for better negotiation and cost-effectiveness.
* Promotions and Merchandising:
o Manage promotions, negotiate deals with suppliers, and optimize sales and profit from promotional space.
o Work closely with Merchandising to optimize space, agree on rates of sale, and ensure timely delivery of new ranges.
* Critical Path Planning:
o Plan critical paths for new range launches, marketing, and promotions.
o Ensure accurate product photography, packaging development, and attention to detail.
* Collaboration with Web and Merchandising Teams:
o Work with the Web and Visual Merchandising teams to optimize in-store and online presentation.
o Lead a team, including junior buyers and Buyers Assistant, ensuring accurate product data.
* Quality and Ethical Standards:
o Follow sampling processes and support Quality team with factory audits.
o Resolve quality issues, improve supply base ethics, and ensure Dunelm quality standards are met.
* Category KPIs:
o Drive key performance indicators including sales, margin, availability, stock, mark down, contribution, market share, and returns rates.

* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to lead others internally and externally.
* A “get things done” mindset, knowing how to communicate the direction whilst delivering value quickly.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills, especially to senior members of Dunelm and our suppliers - demonstrating a "stronger together" approach.
* Track record for successfully negotiating in complex negotiations.
* Strong organisation skills, with clear ability to be able to prioritise workload.
* Curiosity. Willing to listen and learn. Will ask for help when it’s needed.
