The successful candidate will work with Dermatology to provide a high-quality Mohs technical service for Portsmouth Hospitals.

Job responsibilities
* Carry out investigations on samples of tissue to diagnose disease and monitor the treatment of patients.
* Assist in the provision of reliable and accurate analytical data for the Trust, in accordance with Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) and ISO 15189 standards and to be responsible for the organisation and management of the section.
* Work as part of a team to deliver, within budget, a patient-orientated Mohs laboratory service to contribute to efficient and effective care.
* Be responsible for all technical aspects of the Mohs service based in Dermatology, and to deputise for the Operational Manager as required in their absence, as required.
* To maintain all associated departmental records and documentation related to this area.
* To ensure that all staff are aware of current policies and procedures regarding the Mohs technique.
* To represent both Histology and Dermatology at meetings and updates involving the Mohs technique.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MSc or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences or being working towards one.
* Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice Mohs Histological Procedures
* Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science
Experience
* At least five year's experience post-registration working in a Histopathology laboratory.
* Be able to demonstrate a broad level of specialist knowledge and practical experience including routine histology, immunocytochemistry, and frozen sectioning.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Evidence of leadership / supervisory responsibility.
* Positive attitude towards education and training.
* Experience in tissue dissection, in particular skin.
