Older People Membership Engagement Worker
Burmantofts Community Friends
Who are BCF? We are a local, ground-level charity helping to improve the lives of older age people living in and around the LS9 area of East Leeds. We do this by offering practical support with activities, information, advocacy, outreach, and wellbeing services. BCF aims are increasing confidence, positive life choices and self-care, whilst reducing social isolation. We work with local people, volunteers, councillors, professional/support services, and more. We are a fun and informal team, working hard to assist people and improve lives, always aiming to enjoy our work.
Main Purpose of The Role: Working under the direction of the CEO and reporting into our Wellbeing Coordinator, this role plays an important part of our strategy to support local older people to live independent and happy lives by making sure they are digitally included, financially resilient and receiving all available support. By helping them to manage their finance and health, it will result in them enjoying life, engaging in new and exciting opportunities, all with the aim of reducing social isolation in older people living in Burmantofts.
Duties:
1. Being the first point of contact for new members, covering home, office meetings and phone calls.
2. Devising an action strategy with the individual receiving support.
3. Identifying the BCF services most beneficial and working with the larger team to initiate this support.
4. Helping to complete forms/applications.
5. Running regular support events.
6. Working in partnership with third sector partners.
7. Helping with digital inclusion, budgeting, using comparison sites and other money saving tools for both new and existing members.
8. Managing and maintaining the BCF member database, ensuring all information is correct.
Management Trustees expect BCF team members to actively promote the aims of the BCF at all opportunities and represent the organisation as a positive force for change in the local community.
