We are delighted to be offering the opportunity for an exceptional leader to join our senior operations team as a Divisional Director of Operations for Cancer and Clinical Support Services Division. We require highly competent and motivated health service leaders to deliver our exciting clinical operations agendas including the development of clinical services for our Cambridge Cancer and Research Hospital.
If you are a highly experienced, and credible leader with real healthcare expertise in operational performance and delivery through others we want to hear from you. You should have a proven track record of successfully leading and transforming services in large complex organisations and demonstrable examples of your ability to drive performance through your leadership approach and excellent communication skills. An ability to challenge the paradigms of current practice and innovate is key as is the capability to make deliberate and considered decisions, supported by the understanding and interpretation of performance analytics.
Significant knowledge of NHS operational performance as well as the current and future direction of the NHS at a national level will support your application.
Main duties of the job
Each of our five clinical divisions are led by a senior team comprising the Divisional Director, the Divisional Director of Operations and the Head of Nursing. Divisions are complex business subsets, and the leadership team, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and central operations team, facilitate the operational performance to enable the delivery of high quality patient care, corporate and clinical governance, patient safety, clinical quality and delivery of operational and financial targets. As a member of the Divisional leadership team you will lead the Division's business and strategic planning including shaping and implementing the Trust's corporate objectives both within the Division and more widely.
Division B (Cancer and Clinical Support Services) provides care across a wide range of local, regional and specialist cancer and oncology services as well as corporate clinical support services such as Outpatients, Imaging and Diagnostics, Pharmacy and Therapies.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
* Relevant Postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or equivalent management qualification
Experience
* Substantial experience of managing a large, complex health, social or similar service
* Success in working collaboratively with senior clinicians across multi-disciplinary professions and services
* Demonstrable success in instigating/leading and managing change
* Commissioning and service planning of a range of services
* Demand and Capacity management experience
* Budget management of significant size (£ms) and complexity across large numbers of specialties
* Demonstrable experience of performance management and meeting key operational delivery targets
Knowledge
* Clinical and corporate governance including risk management
* The NHS and DH agendas and their consequences
* NHS funding models and application, such as tariffs, Payment by Results and block contracts
* Workforce planning, recruitment and retention and staff development including appraisals and performance management
Skills
* Positive and effective team worker, able to delegate and ensure delivery of objectives
* Ability to manage risks and Serious Incidents
* Excellent interpersonal skills, judgement and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex, sensitive issues and problems into plans which are clearly articulated and understandable to others
* Transformation and leadership of redesign of services with a strong patient focus
Additional Requirements
* Able to take on management of the operational requirements of the Trust including leading silver command
* Willingness to work anywhere in the Trust and to travel, on occasions, within the region and nationally
* Posts will be offered as permanent, 6-9 month Fixed term/Secondment or as Bank
