Job Details We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Micropalaeontologist to join our Geology Group based in North Wales. The successful candidate will work within our team of multi-disciplinary geoscientists, providing innovative solutions to our clients challenging problems within the Energy Sector. Our team of Geoscientists generate and interpret geological data; compiling and synthesising results in order to solve clients subsurface challenges. We are looking for individuals who are intuitive, ask questions and will continuously seek to improve our interpretations and processes. Candidates must be able to independently identify stratigraphic datums from a range of different geographies and ages, and be able to integrate their results with other stratigraphic and geological disciplines. For this role, candidates should be prepared to relocate to North Wales, and be happy to split their working hours between Viridien’s offices and home (if desired). Key Responsibilities The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in the areas specified below (please highlight these in your application): Micropaleontological logging, data review and interpretation, in the office and possibly also at wellsite Independent review and integration of bio stratigraphic data in a regional geological context, providing interpretation and sequence stratigraphic correlations (using the softwares like Stratabugs and IC) Strategic leadership of workflows incorporating AI/ML into fossil identification and interpretation Deliverable generation, independently and accurately generating professional summaries related to basin evolution, regional geology, stratigraphy and micropaleontology Understanding and integration of other technical disciplines to gain detailed subsurface insights Ability to rapidly locate, digest and compile information from different sources Mentoring/coaching of more junior staff, providing feedback as and when required to aid their development Experience through own research to engage critically, practically and creatively with current topics relating to geoscience Qualifications Educated to Degree, master’s or PhD level in Geology or Stratigraphy and experience working as a Stratigrapher in either a consultancy or operator environment.
