Job overview
To provide direct supervision and organisation of the domestic team, arrange cover for absences, and facilitate adjustments of work schedules to meet service needs and obtain acceptable standards of cleaning.
To ensure all staff in the team adhere to Trust policies and are correctly instructed and trained in the use of operating methods, equipment, and techniques required to provide a safe environment. Responsible for the day-to-day domestic service within a specified shift time and allocated zone.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensuring the rotas are covered.
2. Allocation of work to Domestic assistants.
3. Liaise with management to ensure continuity of service in the event of major staff shortages.
4. Prioritize urgent requests.
5. Authorize overtime within the allocated budget.
6. Train staff in basic job skills under the direction of Management.
7. Conduct health and safety training, including cascade training and monthly toolbox training.
8. Ensure staff compliance with mandatory training including COSHH.
9. Make arrangements for staff to attend training.
10. Carry out staff appraisals.
11. Cooperate on health and safety matters and ensure compliance with current practices.
12. Identify and resolve staff performance issues.
13. Maintain Trust standards of hygiene at all times.
14. Handle customer complaints in conjunction with Management.
Person specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in leadership (or equivalent)
Experience
* Previous cleaning experience at a supervisory level.
* Previous experience of cleaning within a healthcare environment.
Knowledge
* An understanding of C.O.S.H.H. regulations.
* Basic health and safety knowledge.
* An understanding of the operation of cleaning machinery.
Skills
* Basic data inputting either manually or using a computer/tablet.
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
Other
* Prepared to study for NVQ level 3 in leadership.
* Willingness to undertake further training as necessary.
